Italy’s Giorgia Meloni wins EU vote as far-right gains across the bloc
Giorgia Meloni, Italy's Prime Minister, is poised to strengthen her position following a victory in the European Parliament elections, as far-right parties made gains across the European Union. According to a poll conducted by Swg and published by La7, Meloni's right-wing Brothers of Italy party was expected to emerge as the clear winner, securing between 27% and 31% of the vote, a significant increase from the mere 6% it obtained in 2019.
