Known for her roles in Hindi and Bengali films, her funeral adhered to Christian traditions and was held on July 4 at 10 a.m. Smriti began her acting journey at age 10 in the Bengali film "Sandhya" and later starred in Kolkata-produced films like "Dwanda" and "Neel Akasher Neechey". She appeared in numerous Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali films, collaborating with renowned directors such as Guru Dutt, V. Shantaram, Mrinal Sen, Bimal Roy, B.R. Chopra, and Raj Kapoor. Her career included roles alongside stars like Dev Anand and Kishore Kumar before she retired from acting upon marrying film director S.D. Narang in 1960. After relocating to Bombay, Smriti made notable appearances in 1950s films including "Pehla Admi" by Bimal Roy, "Bhaagam Bhaag" by A.R. Kardar with Kishore Kumar, and "Baap Re Baap" by Bhagwan Dada. Her contributions left a lasting impact on the film industry during her illustrious career.
